    Pass/Fail:

Lead

  • Markus Friedl, Ole Mogensen, Alex Hilman, Jesper Hylling, Mogens Hvidfelt, Andrew Mattingly, and Niels Bye Nielsen are not mentioned in the article outside of the infobox, nor are there references to their participation. Either remove them from the infobox or mention and cite their participation using reliable secondary sources.
They are directly sourced from the game's ending credits. I could directly cite them using template:cite video game, but personally I think that's a bit silly.
  • Its release on Stadia, MacOS, and Linux are not mentioned in the lead, nor is it sourced. Please source these things and mention them in the article outside of the infobox.
Done, I added them in the release section, where you can find the sources.
  • Make sure to cite the different publishers, but also include them in the infobox to clarify them, as SE is not the only publisher.
Done, clarified in the release section. I think Square Enix is still the primary publisher so I listed the other publishers in efn since they only published ports/enhanced versions of the game. The citations can be found in the release section
  • When was it released on the other platforms? Be sure to mention in the infobox and body if reliable sources exist on the dates.
Done, added in both infobox and release section
  • "The game, which has six episodes, is the sixth mainline entry in the Hitman franchise; its story takes place six years after the events of Hitman: Absolution (2012)" > "The game, which has six episodes, is the sixth mainline entry in the Hitman franchise, taking place six years after the events of Hitman: Absolution (2012)"
 Done
  • "Unconventional" Looking at the sources in the article, it doesn't seem as though the word is used. If you're using a variant of a similar word, can you clarify what word that is?
"Creative" is the word.
  • Did Square Enix Montréal work on Absolution? The lead doesn't make this clear as to what their role was with this game or any preceding games.
 Done, clarify a bit.

Gameplay

  • Make sure to de-hyphenate "ly" words preceding an adjective and noun (ie "genetically-enhanced assassin"), as there lacks ambiguity as to whether the two words are related.
 Done
  • Agent 47's genetic enhancements are not mentioned in the next source, please make sure to cite that.
Done, his genetic enhancements is the central plotline of the first game and also, the sequel.
  • Make sure to clarify that poisoning and toilet drowning aren't inherently connected. Granted, you absolutely CAN use food poisoning to get them into the bathroom to drown, but an "or" would be better than an "and" regardless.
 Done
  • Take opportunities out of quotations, it's a p normal thing.
 Done
  • "Player-character" is typically only used in the case of the identity of the character you control being an ambiguous character or you having a selection of characters from which to choose.
 Done
  • Make sure to be consistent between use of "player" and "players".
 Done
  • "Players commonly" > "Players may"
 Done
  • The source on the Contracts mode doesn't suggest that it was originally in Absolution or that it returns from it.
 Done

Images

  • Be sure to clarify why the image is not replaceable and the respect for commercial opportunities in the rationale.
Done, drawn from the gameplay screenshot of South Park: The Stick of Truth, a FA.

Status query[edit]

Abryn, OceanHok, where does this review stand? It's been over three weeks since OceanHok did edits on August 30 "addressing some of these comments first", and Abryn covered through Gameplay in July, with the bulk of the article still unreviewed. How soon do you think the review will be completed? Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:34, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, things have been a little hectic. I should be able to have the review done before the end of the week. - Bryn (talk) (contributions) 05:17, 24 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@OceanHok: Abryn has been busy, but talked to me about it, and I've agreed to continue the review in her place. I'll try and have it done within the next few days.--AlexandraIDV 13:34, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Alexandra's review[edit]

Lead/infobox
  • I actually would recommend adding a citation for the development staff, even if it feels "silly".
  • The game, which has six episodes, is the sixth mainline entry in the Hitman franchise and the first installment of the World of Assassination trilogy, taking place six years after the events of Hitman: Absolution (2012) and follows professional assassin Agent 47 as he goes on a worldwide adventure and solves a mysterious series of seemingly unconnected assassinations. is a rather long sentence. I would recommend splitting it up in two.
Gameplay
  • he travels to various locations and carries out contracted assassinations of criminal targets across the globe. - there's some repetition here with "travels to various locations" / "across the globe". Since traveling isn't part of the gameplay, I would simplify this to "he carries out contracted assassinations of criminal targets across the globe".
Synopsis
  • Would recommend adding context for what Hitman: Codename 47 is, just something brief like "the first game in the series"
  • I have not played through the game's story, so I cannot comment on the accuracy of the summary, but it looks good otherwise.
Development
  • Danish company IO Interactive developed of all of the mainline Hitman games. - are a few words missing here? I do not know what this is trying to say.
  • Unclear how Square Enix is related the first time they're mentioned, so make sure to call them the game's/series' publisher
  • "focussed", with that double S, is non-standard spelling - would recommend switching to "focused"
  • too linear rather than the large, open sandbox levels of the older games - don't call it "too linear" in Wikipedia's objective voice. We can call it "more linear", but not make a judgment on whether the linearity was a good call.
  • What does "track team" mean here?
  • This team felt it - I'm assuming you meant to write "The team"?
  • James Bond links to an article about the James Bond series - either write it in italics or re-target the link to Portrayal of James Bond in film.
Release
  • It is also set to be released on Google Stadia on 1 September 2020. - This needs updating.
Not mandatory for GAN but still recommended
  • Adding alt texts to the images would be very helpful to readers with vision impairments.
  • "Other media" and "Sequels" are both rather short - I would suggest merging them into a single section with two paragraphs, for better flow.

@OceanHok: I think this is everything - please ping me when you have addressed everything or if you have any questions, and I will reply asap.--AlexandraIDV 15:09, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Alexandra IDV: - Thank you for the review. I think I have addressed everything. I am not sure what to do with alt texts though. OceanHok (talk) 15:28, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@OceanHok: Thank you! I added alt texts myself, feel free to tweak the wording if you wish. Regardless, I will go ahead and promote this to GA now. Congratulations~!--AlexandraIDV 18:15, 12 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
