The first line is wrong[edit]

It says "A holiday is a special day of rest." That's just silly. Many days known as holidays in various parts of the world are hardly days of rest. Some that come to mind are 4th of July in the USA, and in my country, Australia, we have Australia Day and Melbourne Cup Day. People do anything but rest on those days.

Day of rest is an old Judeo-Christian term for when God rested after the creation. Far too narrow, and inappropriate in a global dictionary.

This, though, is just part of the whole problem of trying to simplistically define a word used very differently in different forms of English throughout the world.
