Donors

The Donor for the W was Andy Williams a pop singer in the 60's, not Andy Wilson. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Angela1979 (talkcontribs) 01:52, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

LA Times article of Feb. 27, 2011 quoting the book "The Hollywood Sign" by Leo Braudy list the donors as "rocker Alice Cooper; Playboy founder Hugh Hefner; California Angels owner Gene Autry; singer Andy Williams; Dennis Lidtke, owner of a Hollywood graphic design company called Gribbit!; Terrence Donnelly, publisher of the Hollywood Independent; Giovanni Mazza, an Italian producer; and Les Kelley of Kelley Blue Book." The Wiki article says the D was donated by Matthew L. Williams, who isn't listed in the Times article, and the Wiki article doesn't mention Dennis Lidtke. What gives? Corrected to Dennis Lidke, citing the above book with page numbers as a reference. Saf209 (talk) 03:44, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

Alice Cooper reportedly also dropped an "O" from his last name (Alice Coper) during the fund raisng process until sufficient money was collected for the refurbishing of the sign — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.113.153.157 (talk) 23:40, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
