Talk:Homages in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Questionable content
[edit]Much of this entry is very questionable. For starters, a more accurate title should be "Homages in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow." Though some of the entries are accurate, such as the reference to to the sunken Venture from King Kong, the resemblence to some of the robots to the classic Metal Monsters from the Fliescher Superman cartoons, and the use of reconisable sound effects from War of the Worlds, the net is thrown far too wide in this entry. There's certainly nothing in the film from the Buck Rogers serials, and suggesting that Angela Jolie's character resembles Honor Harrington is a bit of a stretch, beyond the fact that they're one-eyed female military officers.
In addition, some obvious items were missed, like a very clear (if brief) view of a ship identical to the Titantic in the graveyard of ships. User:Sir-Talen

Homages to
[edit]Shouldn't this be called 'homages in'? 24.218.218.9 05:58, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
- Moved, although I'm not sure about "homages" either. NickelShoe (Talk) 13:25, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Content from unreliable sources
[edit]The Internet Movie Database's trivia pages are completely user-submitted and do not meet the reliable source criteria. This is also the same issue with the fan sites for the film, as they do not have a reputation for fact-checking or editorial oversight, being personally published. I've left references that seemed valid (especially coming from people involved with the film), but I think as a whole, this article should be merged to the film article, considering the sparse verifiable content. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 20:21, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]Anyone else think this article should be merged with Sky Captain and the World of Tommorrow?

- I think this is a good idea, since there's not an overload of content here or at the film's article. I suggest being bold and merging it yourself. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 19:25, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- I have added the 'merge' templates to this article and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. If there are no objections in the next few weeks, I will carry out the merge myself. Terraxos (talk) 02:41, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Please please merge asap. This article is one of the most redundant entries I've come across on wiki. Who on earth decided this warranted its own page? Feudonym (talk) 05:57, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
- That's easy to find out: Just look at the first entry in the history. — Val42 (talk) 06:08, 26 December 2007 (UTC)
