Expansion needed.

[edit]

I thought this particular storm was worthy of an article so can some users help with this article and expand it? Would be greatly appreciated Insendieum ALT (talk) 17:07, 31 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

[edit]

This storm hardly caused any damage or effects in Hawaii. I did some research on it as well and found little information about Calvin that isn’t already in the season article, and all that is in this article currently is copy-pasted from its section. JayTee⛈️ 03:42, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed; Calvin '23 had an unremarkable meteorological history, preparations for it in Hawaii were routine, there was no landfall or significant wind / rainfall impact in Hawaii, plus there was little media coverage of the event. Drdpw (talk) 14:24, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think the storm isn't notable yet. If people can discover more information by the media on the storm it can be kept. We should probably give it some time and see if any info is found. If not, this article should definitely be deleted 2600:4041:47C:400:AD7F:FBEE:DAF0:BC1B (talk) 01:10, 5 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did some source hunting and couldn’t find anything particularly noteworthy about this storm that the main article doesn’t already include. Plus, I tried making a sandbox draft for Calvin back in July and ended up deleting it for the same reason. JayTee⛈️ 12:10, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for deletion

[edit]

Please make an AFD for the page, it should not exist as a nearly complete copy paste from 2023 Pacific hurricane season and should be restored as a redirect. 98.116.45.220 (talk) 15:24, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That is an opinion. An AFD is not necessary, a simple discussion and merge if needed will do. JayTee⛈️ 15:59, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Recently, it has been precedent to nominate these articles at AFD to get a faster and guaranteed outcome. See Tropical Storm Colin (2022) and Tropical Storm Javier (2022). If we leave it on the talk page, a consensus might not be met due to minimal participation - we can’t ping either as that is a massive violation of WP:CANVASS, something our project was warned about multiple times, causing many to be sanctioned. And an argument for deleting the history does exist - it was completely copied without attribution, thus failing WP:CWW and WP:COPYRIGHT.69.118.232.58 (talk) 16:43, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
WP:SOCK accounts involved. 69. was previously blocked for ban evasion and I already suspected and reported 98.116 for being a potential sock. Very odd how the first edits done by 69.118 since their 1-year ban evasion block was participating in here. The Weather Event Writer (Talk Page) 17:00, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@WeatherWriterThanks for catching that. I thought it was uncanny that an IP had so much knowledge of Wikipedia policy. Anyway I’m going to go ahead with the discussion first, won’t be pinging anyone and will await results to see of this page can stand on its own. JayTee⛈️ 17:15, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Another bad faith SPI likely to succeed. ArbCom should’ve tbanned Elijah when they had the chance in May 2022.69.118.232.58 (talk) 19:30, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is highly unlikely that this discussion will attract any attention, especially without tags on the article, several articles in this WikiProject have been proposed for merging for years and haven’t attracted any comments, thus making it highly likely the discussion ends stale and this article is kept.47.21.192.218 (talk) 19:42, 4 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Or we just keep this discussion going. We can also inform the WPTC talk page about this discussion and invite collaboration before making a decision. You’re kind of making a mountain out of a molehill here. JayTee⛈️ 03:35, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
