Dan Goldstein = Daniel Goldstein
[edit]Besides being a decision scientisit, Goldstein is also improv actor and teacher. --Golioder 10:18, 6 October 2005 (UTC)
Shortform Longform merge
[edit]I am suggesting a merge with shortform and longform into this article. I am willing to do it (and probably will).
The only thing separate articles would be good for is a list of longform or shortform games. The descriptions should stay here. -ejdmoo 05:50, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- Aaaand, I merged them. -ejdmoo 16:06, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
Merge with "Improvisational Theatre"
[edit]There does not appear to be any different information in the seperate articles Improvisational comedy and Improvisational theatre. While these two are different in theory, they do not seem to be different in reality. Is there any reason the two articles should not be merged? BarkingDoc 22:21, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
"Short Form" vs "Shortform"
[edit]Google yields only 139 responses for "shortform improv" and 12,300 for "short form", and 47,000 for "Long Form Improv" with only 12,000 for "longform." I have seen Longform used professionally, but I have never seen anyone use Shortform as a compound word. Since apparently the use of "Longform" occurs about 1/4 of the time, I think "Longform" should be mentioned once, but the two word (not twoword) versions should be the standard for the article. Agree with suggestion to merge
[edit]I don't understand why this article and Improvisational theatre are two separate articles. There is overlapping content between the articles, and in fact, some of the information in this article is missing from the article on improvisational theatre but belongs there--for example, the information about long form and short form definitely pertains to improv theatre.
I agree too. --Dan Winckler 19:42, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

Mention of specific groups, shows, etc
[edit]This page has been edited a number of times to add specific performers, groups, theaters and shows -- one editor even went so far as to create a new subgenre next to short form and long form. Groups and practicioners with a truly formative influence, e.g., the Compass Players, Del Close, were already represented in the article. The additional groups, shows, etc, have been moved to the List_of_improvisational_theatre_companies when applicable and, in the case of the British TV show Baddiel_and_Skinner_Unplanned, removed entirely. --Dan Winckler 20:36, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Notability (comedy)
[edit]I've created Wikipedia:Notability (comedy) to help editors in deciding the notability of comedy- and humor-related articles. Please help hammer it into shape. --Chris Griswold (☎☓) 08:59, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Real Life/Practical Joke Improv?
[edit]Is there a name for (improv?) comedy that is done unannounced in front of an unsuspecting audience? Examples I can think of are Improv Everywhere and Trigger Happy TV. The things those groups do are all planned out and might just be described as a type of practical joke, but there is an improvised element involved. Does anyone think it should be named/mentioned as a subcategory of either Comedy or Improv?
- You're talking about what is known as Guerilla Theater. Zebov (talk|contribs) 06:32, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
