Talk:Income tax cases
Possible Redirect
[edit]Not sure if we can expand this any more. Might want to redirect this if it is not expanded to the cases. spryde | talk 16:03, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
- This article may be a candidate for deletion. This article is simply referring to the Pollock decisions. The relevant Wikipedia artile is already linked in this article. And the title "Income tax cases" is somewhat misleading. Although Pollock has occasionally been referred to as the "1895 income tax cases," relatively few tax scholars would generally refer to Pollock as "THE income tax cases" without the qualifying date "1895." Pollock is definitely a leading income tax case, but it's not THE income tax case (or cases).
- Anyway, the main reason for possible deletion of this article is that this is really just another article about Pollock; we already have a long article on Pollock. Yours, Famspear 16:51, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
This should not be expanded or deleted. It is essentially a redirect. The cases are widely known as the Income Tax cases. Mpublius (talk) 04:34, 18 November 2007 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of article
[edit]The Pollock case (consisting of two decisions in the year 1895) is a leading case in the history of the development of U.S. Federal income taxation. I have been in tax practice as a lawyer and CPA for over 20 years, I have read many articles and studied the texts of thousands of court decisions, and I have never, ever heard of Pollock being referred to by anyone as "THE income tax cases" -- as though Pollock were somehow more significant than a host of other U.S. Supreme Court decisions on the subject of Federal income taxation. We already have an extensive article on Pollock. This stub should be deleted. Yours, Famspear (talk) 15:04, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
