Royal Navy primary participants at Bristol
[edit]The article contains the following:
- The first International Festival of the Sea took place in Bristol in 1996 with the Royal Navy as primary participants.
I was at the first IFOS and this statement does not correspond with my recollections. I recall Bristol as having a predominantly civil maritime basis. In fact the principal 'naval' vessel I recall was a reproduction US Navy wooden-walled frigate. They may well have been the odd RN minesweeper, maybe even a frigate, but unless my memory serves me very wrong, describing the RN as a primary participant is stretching things too far. Of course subsequent IFOSs have been very different, at least the ones in Portsmouth (I missed the Leith event). I've tagged the above statement, to give other editors a chance to cite something that proves my memory wrong. -- Chris j wood 10:40, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
