yea man, cool beans

anyone want to place some irish 'metal' bands here like Cruachan or Primordial (band)

This article is about rock bands from Ireland. The Dropkick Murphy's are not from Ireland, they are an American band. Just because they were influenced by, amongst other things, Irish music does NOT make them Irish. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.72.148.208 (talk) 21:05, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm no authority, but I believe The Coors, the Proclaimers, and Van Morrison are Irish.Tomligon (talk) 02:33, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then I'm afraid we have it very wrong about The Proclaimers... --♀♂➨Candlewicke  :) Sign/Talk 12:40, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

9 Lies in 2000s

[edit]

Anyone got anything to back up the inclusion of 9 Lies?

"...and his cousin band from Belfast 9Lieswho have both achieved a great deal of success and critical acclaim internationally"

I can't say I've heard of them nor can I find anything about them having great success or critical acclaim. There is no page for them on Wikipedia and nothing at all about them in a search on Google News. Nor can I find a mention of being related to Damien Rice. Not sure if it would be uncharitable to suggest this is spam/vandalism but I thought I'd check before editing it out. Anyone? Davebushe (talk) 21:37, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like this was never followed up. Two years down the line and things don't appear to have changed (only references to the band are on their own web page), so I've removed the sentence and external link, as well as another redlinked band. KerryMuso (talk) 13:51, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Van Morrison...

[edit]

"Van Morrison achieved international success in the 1960s with the beat group Them before launching a very successful solo career that is still going strong in its fourth decade." (Italics added by me.)

Okay, so if he started in the 60's, and you counted that as his first decade (fair enough if you ask me), and you count forward four decades, that would make "still" being in the 1990's. As it is now 2019, two decades after the 90's I think that sentence needs to be either updated (assuming his career is still active, which I strongly doubt), or reworded so as to reflect reality. I would if I were an expert on Van Morrison, but although I love his music, I'm not really interested in him enough to bother. Someone who is would be better equipped and motivated. SentientParadox (talk) 06:17, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Frankly I think it needs to be reworded in such a way that passage of time doesn't detract from, or make inaccurate it's meaning. SentientParadox (talk) 06:26, 15 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
His career certainly is still active. I've removed a few unnecessary words - sorted!. Ghmyrtle (talk) 10:42, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
