The creator of this page has recently been creating a series of superficially plausible hoaxes about Spanish history. PatGallacher (talk) 14:14, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion issue

[edit]

I don't think this article needs to be deleted. It was created amidst controversy, but it was basically a translation of the first paragraph of a much older Spanish-language article (which had also been translated into various languages long before the controversy). The creator of this article may have been interested in giving the "House of Lemavia" a context, but the irony is that once the full translation is done, this would have only implicated the "Lemavia"'s in the oppression of the peasantry and the burghers… unless, they were to claim that the Lemavia were of the petty hidalgía, which aided in the revolt, but that would go against their other claims that the Lemavia were "immemorial nobility." Anyway, controversy aside, this war seems legit. Moreover, even though it went unnoticed by the authors of the Spanish article, this revolt lays the ground work for efforts of the Catholic Monarchs to hobble the power of the nobility, this last point being documented even in general European history books in their discussion of the rise of centralized monarchies after the end of the Middle Ages. In a few days I'll see if I can locate in my local libraries English-language histories of Galicia or Spain which mention it. Take care! TriniMuñoz (talk) 17:51, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Voilà! As promised, I added English-language sources that mention the wars. TriniMuñoz (talk) 19:26, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article in Portuguese

[edit]

For obvious historical reasons, the Portuguese version of this article is the best documented one. Please refer to http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grande_revolta_irmandinha. (Irmandino (talk) 22:00, 23 May 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Suggested moves

[edit]

I suggest moving this page to "Irmandiño Wars". PatGallacher (talk) 20:11, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
