Characters named jim[edit]

This is a disambiguation page for the name "Jim", and as such i don't see what's wrong with putting characters that are named "Jim" on here, even if they are ficitonal. the point of pages like this is so that you can type in a word and if you don't get it exactly right (or can't remember the person's last name), then you have a list of people or characters to look through and find it. Sure, there may be quite alot of people named Jim, but not hundreds, especially not with a whole wikipedia page about them to link to. if you want to keep it simple looking or easy to read, that's great, but don't delete all the names of characters you don't think deserve the use of this page to get to them, just make a few sections for the different types of people. such as "people", "fictional characters", and "nicknames" or something. Anyway the point is: Don't keep deleting fictional characters because you dont think they should be on this page, they should. Zikol 06:32, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional Jim (if the is known simple as "Jim", not "Jim Jimson" or like) OK. Non-fictional people are not listed in wikipedia by first name. `'юзырь:mikka 20:14, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about any specific policies that wikipedia has on the subject but as far as i can tell, there are many fictional characters listed on disambiguation pages. look at "Clark" for Clark Kent, or "Luke" for Luke Skywalker, or "Eric" for Eric Forman, or "Winston" for Winston Smith. there are many more like this too. i just think that the point of the page is to make it easier for people to find specific characters, and putting Jim Halpert on the page makes it easier for people searching for his character's page to find it. Eventually they will all be deleted. Disambiguation pages are not search engine. THey serve a specific purpose: to navigate between articles that could have had the same title. see Wikipedia:Disambiguation. People are entered only if they are known only by their first name. `'Miikka 16:05, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
F__k it, I read through that entire page and still didn't see anything that contradicts my point of view, but f__k it. if it makes you happy, I guess I'll just start typing Jim "Halpert" instead of Jim from now on. I just liked typing just Jim, especially when my mind slips and I just can't think of his last name. Zikol 06:08, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
