Robert Bailey Jr's Myspace Pictures

[edit]

Unless this quote: "Pictures have been circulating over the internet from Robert Bailey Jr's Myspace account in which he is photographed with a large amount of money, presumably from the defense fund, scattered over his bed, in his mouth, and in his hands" can be substantiated (i.e. with the URL of this supposed webpage), it should not be in this article. Robert Bailey's mom, Caseptla Bailey, as local NAACP President?

[edit]

This source quotes Robert Bailey's mom as saying:

“To us, those nooses meant the KKK, they meant, ‘N*****s, we’re going to kill you, we’re going to hang you ‘till you die,’” Caseptla Bailey, NAACP President and mother of one of the accused, told reporters.

But more importantly, to my point, it lists her as an NAACP president. She is clearly not a national president, so I would assume a local president - This is the only source I can find that lists her as holding this role. A check of the NAACP website lists many local presidents but not Caseptla Bailey. If it is true, then I find this to be important information because the NAACP was originally founded to help combat Jim Crow statutes... If this is true, Robert Bailey's mother could of used her power as local NAACP president, to sway local residents and "spin" a national story that helps her son out - while also probably helping donations to the NAACP. It would be in her best interest for there to be a "Story." regarding her son - rather than just six kids that beat up another kid... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.165.37.26 (talk) 18:22, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. We can say that she's the LaSalle Parish president, but we can't imply any of the above. However, I've seen some accusations (not on any reliable sources that I can find, though) that she embezzled the initial donations and that the mothers have been seen driving expensive cars, but it may just be lies. If anyone sees a reliable source that states this, please post it. Ophois 20:10, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would never want you to imply any of the above - i was simply stating it because i think it shows she most certainly has a conflict of interest. I have also seen the reports of her embezzling money from the NAACP - but I did not post it here because it was certainly not a reliable source. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.61.117.205 (talk) 02:49, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a RS that lists her affiliation . . . it's a good update . . . looks like a number of people are having a busy time!http://www.thetowntalk.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070926/NEWS01/709260327 --Wehwalt 11:54, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The article says "the once outspoken president of the LaSalle Parish chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People". She may not have been president at the time of the attack. Ophois 14:08, 26 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Bailey and Robert Bailey Jr.

[edit]

Are they the same person? If so, we should refer to him consistently, otherwise we should throw in a disclaimer.--Wehwalt 12:08, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
