In the KKK?

I think you need to cite more sources regarding Morgan's possible involvement in the KKK. I clicked on the link you have for citation one, but it contains only a very brief reference to Morgan heading the Klan in Alabama. I have found no reference to Morgan's Klan activities in the various secondary sources I've looked at (including a scholarly monograph about Morgan published in 1992). I am pretty sure he wasn't. The source cited was attacking the assertion that Morgan was a Klan member/leader which was apparently made in an anti-mason pamphlet. As I haven't found any scholarly work to support his membership either, I have edited the page. I had previously found a more definitive quote against his membership in my research on Morgan; however, I can't presently put my hand on it. If I find it I will add a more definitive statement against his membership to the page later.71.91.20.188 (talk) 01:23, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

John Tyler Morgan died 103 years ago. Trashing his memory on Wikipedia ought to be piece of cake; after all, dead people can't fight back. But his descendants can, and I'm one of them. In the family records and memorabilia there is no known document indicating KKK affiliation. The forebears of this man owned slaves for 200 plus years. When he served in Congress he served the defeated but proud state of Alabama. He was surrounded by clergy who held the same beliefs as his.
