Kandahar District and Kandahar City

[edit]

We already have another detailed topic about Kandahar City/District http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kandahar.

There for, the article should be put for deletion. Such articles confuse readers because it makes them think that Kandahar District and Kandahar City are two different places when they are not.

I have explained this in another discussion as well. Let me quote myself,

In Afghanistan cities like Herat City, Kabul City, Jalalbad City, Kandahar City, Kunduz City are both districts and cities. The difference between Kunduz District and another district in Kunduz is that it is a business center of the province (at national level), thus it is called a city as well. However, as you can see, there is no city in Logar Province. The capital or center of Logar Province is Pul-i-Alam, however we never call it a city. Eventhough it is the center of the Province, but it is not busy enough or it is not populated enough, or it is not a business districts so we do not call it Pul-i-Alam city.

There for, some of these major cities in Afghanistan like Kabul City, Herat City, Jalalabad City, Kandahar City are districts as well. The only reason why we call them cities is because at Afghan standard, they are urbanized (they are not rural districts).
