Talk:Karloff (play)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am the creator of this page and am starting the apparently required "talk page" in order to have the disclaimer banner removed when appropriate.

The banner refers to the need for a Wiki entry to have a "neutral point of view." I've reviewed what I composed last year, and it seems to me the text is a straight forward account of this play's history, and without editorial comment. As the playwright of "KARLOFF," I do indeed have a direct connection with the play, but feel I've simply given information about the play's history up to now, and included some text from the play's website which describes what the play is about.

I'm not sure what happens at this point. Maybe I'm supposed to invite interested people into the conversation, so they can add to this talk page? Then later on, Wiki volunteers can review the contents and see about removing the disclaimer?

This is the first time I've seen this disclaimer banner, 2/15/17, and so am trying to follow the instructions for having the banner removed.

How to add people to the conversation on this Talk page?

[edit]

I am trying to comply with Wiki rules so the intrusive banner can be removed from this Wiki entry. Unlike the experts who have Wiki as a major activity in their lives, I am an amateur and beginner. What is probably simple for Wiki experts to work with is very difficult for me to figure out. This is the only Wiki I have ever written, and don't understand why it was flagged with this banner.

I started this Talk page a month ago, since instructions said I needed to do that to start the process of removing the banner. There is no discussion, the issue of the banner remains, I don't see how the issue will be resolved when action on it is static.

How do I invite people to join on this Talk page? - I see the various templates for helping to resolve "maintenance template" issues. Since the word "neutrality" is included in the banner at the top of my page, I've looked at the "Template:POV." It says I can remove the banner whenever any one of the following is true:

1) There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved;

2) It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given;

3) In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant. ---

  1. 1 doesn't apply since there is no discussion. I don't know what the "NPOV Noticeboard" is, or where it's located.
  1. 2 is true for me at least. It isn't clear at all why the "neutrality" of the Wiki entry is being questioned when it's a rather straight-forward listing of information about the topic. It just gives the history of the play script, along with a brief description of what it's about.
  1. 3 is something I would like very much to use as a reason to remove the banner. There has been no discussion, I would like the tag removed - I just don't want to do it before I've done whatever else I'm supposed to do to start a discussion. I am trying to do everything according to the established rules.

Does anyone see this Talk page? Is this confused new post being seen?

Help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Rbowser11 (talk) 15:44, 15 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
