About the literal translation of "ケムリクサ"

[edit]

I changed it to "A plant that can generate smoke", as there is no evidence in the TV animation to show that the name comes from tobacco. The kemurikusas look like normal leaves and the white robots calling Wakaba "captain" says that they can either be commanded by "ケムリ"(smokes) or captain in episode 8.

However, there are also counter examples. In the short animations of Kemurikusa released in 2012, the introduction contains "タバコに似た武器で虫と戦う日常に謎の男が現れ…" which means "In the daily life of defeating bugs with tobacco-like weapons, a mysterious man appears." And the characters are really "smoking" the tobacco-like kemurikusas to fight.

I am not sure which one is Director Tatsuki's idea. But I prefer "A plant that can generate smoke". 楊肇峰 (talk) 09:29, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
