Declined AFC submission

[edit]

MagellanAquarium This article was declined at AFC by Bkissin (Draft:Kessler Park, Dallas) with the suggestion that you could merge it into Kessler Park Historic District It is not acceptable to simply copy and paste your draft over an existing article. That just makes a total mockery of the AFC process. Nor is it acceptable to edit war to try and get your article published. Please see WP:BRD and stop your disruptive editing. As I have explained, there was no content on the kessler park wiki page, it simply redirected to the kessler wikipedia page. However, just like other neighborhoods mentioned on the kessler wiki page which have their own dedicated wiki pages, kessler park should have it, too. kessler park historic district is only part of the neighborhood and it's not the right page to merge into content like education and healthcare in the neighborhood. Therefore, I believe the existing kessler park page is better place to add the content to since there was technically no content. MagellanAquarium (talk) 02:52, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
If you believe there should be an article on Kessler Park, then go back to your draft, address the issues that were raised and then submit it to AfC again when it has been improved. The argument here is not whether Kesslar Park should have an article, but the content of the article. --John B123 (talk) 06:57, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, I took the feedback and merged my content to an existing page, which is kessler park. I think you would agree that the content I put together is more than a redirection to the Kessler page, which was the case before my edit.
Second, I would like that my content and edits to be treated with the same standard. If the content I developed was not enough to become a separate page, could you help me understand why these other neighborhood pages exist with similar or much less content? greenway parks, east kessler park, lakewood, Bryan Place MagellanAquarium (talk) 23:15, 17 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A merge is when the content of two pages are put together. Overwriting the content of a page, as you have done here, is not a merge. The standards for inclusion in Wikipedia have changed over the years and it may well be that there was a lower threshold when these other articles were created. That aside, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXITS is not a valid argument on Wikipedia. --John B123 (talk) 08:58, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
