Ages
I suggest adding ages or birthdates. Bean is currently 49, according to imdb. Does anyone know Kevin's age? -I'm guessing Kevin is around 44.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.165.70.225 (talk) 15:39, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Kevin
Does anyone know what Kevin's last name is? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tribe4ever (talk • contribs) .
- Ryder —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.85.173.191 (talk • contribs) .
- That is apparently just his stage name. [1] -- Bovineone 22:29, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Kevin himself has deleted references to his real name from this page. You could probably find it elsewhere, but adding it here would be futile.--68.127.39.116 04:31, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
- I propose that people stop trying to change Kevin's last name in this article. According to KROQ broadcasts, it is Kevin Ryder. I do not know of any reputable source that says differently, nor any compelling reason why a different name should be insisted upon here. Wikipedia's basic principle of "no original research" requires that such things are verifiable by citation. Furthermore, there is no reason why this article absolutely must investigate and publish alternative surnames for Kevin Ryder. Such matters should be reserved for an article on the man specifically, if at all.205.212.72.182 09:33, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

More trivia
Can someone find out the date (at least the year) when K&B started their show? Also has Bean always lived in and broadcast the show from Seattle? Doesn't he (or Kevin?) also own a farm with various livestock? -- Bovineone 03:50, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm, apparently there was originally some attempt at secrecy regarding Bean's move to Seattle around 1999, as this usenet thread discusses. The thread also mentions that he may no longer have the farm or the animals after moving. Can anyone else who is a regular listener fill in some of the gaps? -- Bovineone 04:24, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Actually, when Bean moved to the island they didn't tell anybody for a couple weeks while they tested the hook-up in Bean's house. They wanted to make sure that the experience for the listener would the same as it always had been. For those two weeks, nobody suspected that Bean wasn't in the studio, so the experiment was determined to be a success and his new location was revealed. Also, Bean does still have a farm with many animals, including livestock. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.166.226.90 (talk • contribs) .
- Bean has made references to "hobby farming". My guess is that the distinction between that and "regular farming" is that he doesn't raise crops/animals for profit. In fact, Bean is a HUGE animal lover who reacted strongly when his neighbor butchered the rooster that had been annoying him. I strongly doubt that there's a Puppy Lake on Bean's farm.--68.127.39.116 04:33, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Bean used to do the show at the station with everyone else, first in Pasadena, then Burbank (I believe his move was before the show moved to it's current broadcast location). When he announced his plans to move to management, they came up with a way he could continue to do the show remotely. They tested this from his home in Santa Clarita for a few weeks. When it worked out, they disclosed it on air, along with his plans to move out of state. Bean had a "farm" at his home in Santa Clarita. At least, he had farm animals and a barn. When he moved to Washington, he set up the same sort of property, where he could keep pet farm animals and have a barn. All of his animals are pets, therefore, his farm is a hobby. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdjgutie (talk • contribs) 18:25, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
Regarding the Unsolved Mysteries incident
Shouldn't it be noted that the "murder confession" discussed on Unsolved Mysteries (UM) was a categorical lie, engineered by Kevin and Bean to boost ratings?
The UM staff asked them point blank if the call was a hoax, and both of them blatantly lied, right on national television. After the scam was revealed, KROQ was forced to pay restitution to the LAPD for the over 150 man hours spent investigating the case.
This fraud caused not only considerable expense to the city of Los Angeles, but also a great deal of heartache for several families of unsolved murder victims.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.140.55.165 (talk • contribs) .
- Interesting. Can you find any pages that could be cited as a reference for this? -- Bovineone 22:06, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Here's one from entertainment weekly that mentions it (at the bottom) as part of the story concerning the more recent scandal involving Ralph's impersonating Jerry Lewis in order to get on the phone with Jacques Chirac. http://www.ew.com/ew/report/0,6115,434699~7~0~ajerrylewishoax,00.html —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 63.166.226.90 (talk • contribs) .
It was a "bit" for the show they only hoped would give people something to talk about around the water cooler that day, asking "Doug the Slug" (at the time still living in Arizona) to play the part of the guy who calls in to confess to having killed a person, then hanging up abruptly. Someone heard it, or heard of it, and thought the caller could have been talking about their missing family member. K & B were contacted and asked for more information, which they gave as if the story had been true. They conceded later that they should have admitted it wasn't true, but they never imagined it would go as far as it did, and by then it seemed too late. They didn't cause a great deal of heartache for those families. The people who took their family members did that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mdjgutie (talk • contribs) 18:37, 27 February 2011 (UTC)
