the statement: "most kit zooms are deliberately limited in abilities" implies some rather dastardly ulterior motives when the real reason is simply pricing and convenience.

All lenses, whether kit, low end or extremely high end are "deliberately limited" as no one single lens can accomodate ALL optical aspects and features.

Kit lenses are intended to give the buyer a means to start using the camera immediately, without pricing the camera out of range of the competition. Nothing sinister or devious need be inferred. KLWhitehead (talk) 15:17, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
