Labay Middle School is a Middle School located in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, USA. The school, which serves grades 6 through 8, is part of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Labay is located in the Copperfield Development. The building was the home of Langham Creek High School for one year while the high school was being built in 1984. The school was called Labay Junior High until Cy Fair ISD renamed all of its junior highs to middle schools. The school's namesake, Allen F. Labay, devoted 38 years to education and 27 years in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, including as the district superintendent. ==Academic recognition== Labay was named a National Blue Ribbon School three times (88-89, 92-93, 97-98). ==Athletics== The 8th grade "A" football team, during the 2007-08 and the 2008-09 years, went entirely undefeated, making them, in consecutive years, district champions, which has never happened before in the school's history. The Labay Eagles' 8th grade Cross Country team during the 2008-09 season won 1st place in their district meet. This would be the school's only Cross Country district title in its history. ==Demographics== For the 2010-11 school year: * African American: 16.1% * Hispanic: 44.3% * White: 27.9% * American Indian: 0.1% * Asian: 9.3% * Pacific Islander: 0.0% * Two or More Races: 2.3% * Economically Disadvantaged: 48.2% * Enrollment: 1588 students as of 9/15/11 ==Feeder patterns== The main elementary schools that feed into Labay are: * Fiest * Owens * Hairgrove * Birkes * Lowery (occasionally) The main high schools that feed out of Labay are: * Cypress Falls High School * Cy-Fair High School (occasionally) ==References== Reflist ==External links== * http://schools.cfisd.net/labay/index.stm Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Texas The Jacobin (talk) 15:47, 16 August 2012 (UTC)
