This school was not a segregation academy and is not listed as one.

Interestingly enough, I have not found a source that says the exact words "Laurence Manning Academy was founded as a segregation academy". What I have been able to find, over and over, is that 1.) Laurence Manning Academy was founded precisely at the time the public schools were integrated. 2.) LMA initially only had White students, 3.) only enrolling Black students around 200-2001 school year. 4.) As of 2010, the school, while located in an area that is predominantly Black, was 98.5% white. 5.) The school remains predominantly White. The Segregation academy page leads with the following definition: "Segregation academies are private schools in the Southern United States that were founded in the mid-20th century by white parents to avoid having their children attend desegregated public schools. They were founded between 1954, when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that segregated public schools were unconstitutional, and 1976, when the court ruled similarly about private schools.
