Merge w/Volcanic dome[edit]

In using the random article feature (my preferred method of perusing Wikipedia), I discovered the above article and figured there had to be something similar in existence, like this article. I didn't do the "merge to" or "merge from" thing, mainly because I don't know whkich terminology is technically more correct. However, this article is a little more polished, while volcanic dome is still an orphan (didn't see much point in fixing that). StopTheFiling 19:02, July 20, 2005 (UTC)

Note that the volcanic dome article does not exists any longer and was mergwed into lava dome.Dentren | Talk 13:36, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Merge with Lava dome[edit]

Volcanic dome redirects as espected to Lava dome because they are essentially the same thing. A cryptodome is slighly different because it is hidden lava dome but as the article is just a stub and the lava dome article is not too big i propose to merge cryptodome into lavadome. Two causes for Lava domes[edit]

The article says a Lava dome is a "roughly circular mound-shaped protrusion resulting from the slow extrusion of viscous lava from a volcano". But can't a Lava dome form when lava is under pressure and forces the rock above it into a dome (like if someone is lying under a blanket and gets up)? --The High Fin Sperm Whale (talk) 00:48, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

What you are mentioning is likely a cryptodome and is descibred in the asrticle.Dentren | Talk 19:12, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

Mount Hood lava dome?[edit]

In the list of lava domes section, it states that a lava dome on Mount Hood last erupted in 1907. This is odd, as the GVP states that it last erupted in 1866 and none of its historical eruptions have produced lava domes. Can the person who made this edit explain? --Guanlong wucaii 08:22, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Dont trust GVP I have seen it give wrong dates several times. Despite of the date of eruption the Mount Hood article statres that it has lava domes on the top. Dentren | Talk 15:32, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Actually, the 1907 eruption of Mount Hood is on the GVP website. The Eruptive History section on the Mount Hood page states that the 1907 eruption is uncertain and occurred at Crater Rock on Hood's southwestern flank, which is a lava dome. Another uncertain eruption occurred in 1869 with no details given. The last positive eruption in the eruptive history page is the 1866 eruption. Thus, I would consider removing Hood from the lava dome list unless there is clear proff an eruption at Hood occurred or produced a lava dome. BT (talk) 20:25, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
So I remove it? --Guanlong wucaii 12:42, 26 February 2010 (UTC)
