Yes, but such repetitions of the same information in multiple languages are very common historically and Tolkien was seemingly fond of them... for instance, "Bree-hill" is based on the English village of Brill, which comes from Bre-hyll (where 'bre' is welsh for 'hill' and 'hyll' is old english for... Lebanon

Does anyone think there could be a connection between Lebennin and Lebanon? I only ask because Middle Earth is sort of based on the real earth and Lebennin falls close to where Lebanon is (near the lands of harad, which is sort of like arabia) and the symbol of Lebanon is a tree, a bit like Gondor. And Lebanon has historically had a significant christian community, and Tolkien was very christian. It could just be coincidence, but I think there could be something to it.

I think it's mentioned somewhere in JRRT's Letters that if Hobbiton is Oxford then Minas Tirith is Rome. —Tamfang 22:16, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
