Jeral or Gerard?

When this antagonist was first introduced his name was spelled as Jeral, but I see that in some of the latest chapters, such as 95, it is Gerard. Which one is it? Hyakurei (talk) 14:09, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Unless there's no official transscription I'd propose to spell it Girard: ジラール -> jiraaru which is "translated" to Girard via ENAMDICT. Put the katakana into the input field, choose "Japanese Namens (ENAMDICT)" from the drop-down list, and hit "Search". Defchris (talk) 17:06, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

The katakana for his name is ジラール . The katakana for Gerald/Gerard is ジェラルド. Though similar, they are not the same. ジラール is Jiraru. Now, in Japanese, 9/10 if a name ends in a D, the D sound will be in the word, i.e. ジェラルド "Jierarudo". Words ending in the "aru" sound are most often romanized as "aru" or "al". Given the characters and Japanese speech patterns, it is quite clear his name is not Gerard. Jeraru, Geraru, Geral, Jeral are far more likely, and as such it would be wise to leave the name as Jeral. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.141.72.63 (talk) 22:45, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
