How about having the "Very Fresh Dill" part lead to the "Verbal fridge dialogue"? That would at least explain that VFD. (Which also stands for "votes for deletion" I just noticed! I'm slow...) Maybe it would be easier just to have the circumstances under which they were used just under each acronym, i.e. reorganising the whole thing as not much is said when you go onto the 3 links... I'd rather hear if someone were for it though as I'm not sure it would be well recieved if I just randomly reorganised it... Bug 19:30, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't go randomly reorganising it. I'm about to put it back into alphabetical order, and I can't see any other structure resulting in anything but a mess.... for example, "Vessel For Dissacharides" and "Vessel For Disacchirides" are both currently listed - I presume this to be an error, but I can only guess which is correct.
I think the "Verbal Fridge Dialogue"/"Very Fresh Dill" connection is adequately covered in the Verbal Fridge Dialogue article. That said, I'm very much in favour of a brief explanation of the circumstances under which each acronym is used. As it stands, to one whose knowledge of A Series of Unfortunate Events comes exclusively from Wikipedia, this article appears to be a random collection of nonsense. Fans of the series presumably already know how "Violent Frozen Dragonflies" etc fit into all this. The rest of us are utterly bewildered by the whole thing. I'd rather these were organized in chronological, instead of alphabetical, order. You want to alphabetize it, do it yourself. Also, I wouldn't mind a terse explanation of each. OneWeirdDude 03:21, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Please list at least the book where each was found and ideally the page and a short explanation as per TheMadBaron above. Clamster5 01:19, 15 October 2006

I'm going to remove all the initials without explanation. If you feel they deserve to be here, please put them back into the article with at least the book they came from and ideally the page number and breif explanation. Clamster5 23:26, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability concerns

[edit]

At the very least for this article to survive, it would help if there were some statement as to why it is believed that this particular series of letters is significant in some way. Given the number of occurrences, I'm fairly sure it is, but without some sort of clear statement as to why this series of letters is notable, hopefully in an outside source, a number of people coming to this article might reasonably ask the legitimate question, "So what?"
