Talk:Loan-to-value
Sure, merge it with loans, but don't change the hyperlinks to simply "loan"-to-value. I think we should leave "loan-to-value" for the sake of the lowest common denominator; those that will see simply "loan" highlighted in the mortgage article's history section, or wherever else this term may occur, and suppose that there is no specific "loan-to-value" definition, just loan; the LCD being those that think they already know what a loan is and bypass the link: resulting in a dumber public. Let's not let Wikipedia be generalized, please; there's no point.
On another note, HELOC should link to an existing article, or an invite to write it if one doesn't exist.
--It should also be under the search "LTV" as this is the common abbreviation used for loan-to-value.
I think "loan-to-value" should maintain an independent existence from "loan." LTV is a concept that only has meaning in secured lending - if there's a merge to be done, it should be into that.
-->>There are a whole bunch of pages out there in wiki explaining LTV (or LVR), all of them should be merged into one, there are something like 3 sepeate articles.
- I think it is a worthwhile topic and recommend leaving it. At a minimum keep the name and redirect to the subtitle explaining LTV in loan. Finance topics are poorly documented so far in Wikipedia. As they come around this article will be increasingly referred to. Deet 21:09, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed, I would be in favor of keeping it separate. The term is a widely used term with a meaning and a use that goes beyond the scope of "banking" and is used in all varieties of secured lending. However, if there's other pages that discuss LTV or LVR or LTC then they should be combined into this one. I'm also going to make a disamb page because apparently LTV already exists as a redirect to something else. --Laxrulz777 19:42, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
