Redirect[edit]

If this redirect is going to be changed to go anywere besides Lyon, it should be to Lyons (disambiguation). J. Lyons and Co. is relatively unknown. Mike Dillon 02:47, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. Well lets redirect it to disambig. All things are relative. Although J. Lyons and Co. are now defunct, the "Lyons" brand name is *relatively* commonplace. Perhaps not in the US though. At any rate I've not seen a book an atlas less than 50 years old that names Lyon, France as "Lyons", and I don't know anyone who calls it that. jmd 02:52, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cool. Mike Dillon 02:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, not cool. By redirecting to the disambig page, you just pointed ~220 links to (Lyons (disambiguation) almost all coming from Lyons, and almost all are really for Lyon. It doesn't matter what books say, it matters what the Wiki links intend. This page should redirect to Lyon. The comments at the top of Lyon will send people back to the disambig page if needed.
Of course it matters what the books say. If there are 220 problems with wikipedia, it doesn't help to add a 221st. Fix what's wrong, and make sure that new content is correct. 202.61.130.74

"Lyons was formerly used as the English name for Lyon in France." Formerly? I believe it is still pretty common, no? - Jmabel | Talk 16:25, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
