Consider the following too and suggest a proper placement under the current topic Mahdaviat:

Believing followers of any claimant of the rank of 'The Promised Mahdi' (OR Mahdi Al-Mow'ood) may be called Mahdawis (OR Mahdavis), as adjective in Arabic. Their belief, faith, school of thought being Mahdaviat (OR Mahdawia(t) & similar transliterations depending on Arabic or Persian pronunciations).

One widespread but lesser known community of the followers of Syed Mohammad of Jaunpur (India) are also referred to as Mahdavis and their belief, Mahdaviat.

Presently centralized in the south Indian city of Hyderabad, yet larger settlements inhabit the Indian state Gujarat. Wide spread in Karnataka, Maharashtra. Some other states have minor populations scattered, while some settled in southern Pakistan.
