Fork

[edit]

This article is a WP:FORK of Maoist Communist Centre, based on a typo in "Centre". South Asia uses British spellings, and no Indian party would use the name "Center". MCC later changed its name to "Maoist Communist Centre (India)" and "Maoist Communist Centre of India", but it is the one and same organization. --Soman (talk) 19:14, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No it is not, they are separate entity`s. You appear to have WP:OWN issues. Maoist Communist Centre is a redirect to here, there is no fork. Please note the Maoist Communist Centre of India is an amalgamation of two groups, The Peoples War Group and the MCC. Tentontunic (talk) 19:32, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, we have reached a dead end here. I suggest you study the history of the Naxal movement more in detail, there is plenty of online material on this. The merger of PWG and MCCI in 2004 produced the Communist Party of India (Maoist). --Soman (talk) 20:59, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've posted a notice at WP:INB, to seek more input from other editors. --Soman (talk) 21:03, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, I am tired. You are correct about the merger of PWG and MCC. But we are again back at WP:COMMONNAME G-Books Maoist Communist Center 145 results Maoist Communist Centre of India 64 results G-Scholar Maoist Communist Center 54 Maoist Communist Centre of India 22 Tentontunic (talk) 21:45, 9 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. But exchanging "Centre" for "Center" is simply a matter of typos, or better said using American spelling in a context where British spellings would be used. I get around 1,100 Google Books hits for "Maoist Communist Centre" and 150 for "Maoist Communist Center". --Soman (talk) 00:39, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I see your point now. Yes, clearly MCC is the much more common name than MCC(I) and MCCI. MCC(I) and MCCI were names adopted at the final phase of the existence of the organization, and were never popularized very much beyond the party ranks. I could support a move to "Maoist Communist Centre". --Soman (talk) 00:44, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are also correct in the spelling. I was using the spelling found in my books, I shall copy and paste this to the Centre article and we can redirect MCCI and this article to there? Tentontunic (talk) 09:48, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
