Table
[edit]While the table looks good for now, I think it would be best replaced by a paragraph on each battalion's history making this article one stop shopping for all of the Defense Battalions.--Looper5920 (talk) 04:37, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
- That was one of my thoughts yesterday, but I'd been picking away at it for hours. That and I didn't want to make it seem like I ripped it right out of the references. bahamut0013♠♣ 16:26, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
Capitalizations
[edit]This article's title has all words beginning with capital letters. Then, the first use has "Marine Defense batallions". Following Wikipedia naming conventions and looking at usage in the body of Melson's Condition Red:Marine Defense Battalions in World War II, I think the page should be renamed Marine defense battalions with the same capitialization in the beginning of the article. I'll wait for responses/comments before making the move. — ERcheck (talk) 13:12, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- Uniformity is important for appearance. I have so edited the article, but a specific units (i.e. 1st Defense Battalion) was left capitalized as a name. bahamut0013♠♣ 13:18, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
- Definitely for specific units, as you say, since they are in the names, rather than descriptive. — ERcheck (talk) 13:25, 20 December 2007 (UTC)
US Army Defense Battalions?
[edit]I have come across some references to US Army Defense Battalions serving on Pacific islands as garrisons duting WW2. Anyone have any information om these? Were they organized the same as Marine Defense Battalions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.111.44.102 (talk) 13:30, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
