It is reasonably well written:
Lead: "He briefly edited The Mountain Breeze newspaper..." - Doesn't make sense in context. He was either "briefly editor of" the paper (if he was in charge) or breifly "was an editor for" the paper if he worked in copy editing. Editor is a title in journalism and isn't used as a verb.
I've modified this sentence to: "He was briefly the editor of". Please let me know if this works, as he was indeed the editor of the newspaper! -- West Virginian (talk) 17:09, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- Another detail, the lead as-is focuses heavily on his health decline and death, I would think more of his career in editing and publishing should be included and the other things that made him notable.
While the sources do not state this outright, Cornwell became notable more so following his death upon the release of his poetry, which was republished in a number of newspapers. I don't state this in the article only because I do not have a reference that says this. His death was notable in this contact, as it was during his battle with TB that he wrote a lot of his poetry. - "...purchased the newspaper The Review." -- More context on the paper is necessary here; where is it located and what does the paper cover?
I've reworded this sentence to: "In 1890, Cornwell's elder brothers William and John Jacob Cornwell purchased The Review newspaper in Romney." The Review later became the Hampshire Review which continues to serve as the local newspaper in Romney. Not much is known about the newspaper at the time of its purchase by the Cornwell brothers. -- West Virginian (talk) 17:09, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
- "editing and publishing" on several occasions, again this needs clarification as to what he's doing. An editor has management over a newsroom and the journalists. A publisher oversees the business of paper production, and is usually the editor's boss. A copy editor would be someone who fixes grammar and fact checks a paper. I believe you're meaning he served in the first two roles, in which case I'd say something more like "...inspired Cornwell's interest in journalism and newspaper publishing"; then "and he became editor and publisher of the South Branch Gazette newspaper"; then "Cornwell served as editor for The Mountain Breeze newspaper"
Thank you for these catches! I've gone through the article and corrected these mentions so that it was clear he wasn't a copyeditor, but that he was the editor of the newspapers that he served. - "The Clarksburg Telegram again remarked upon Cornwell's editorial abilities..." -- Any specifics on those abilities? Are they indicating his ability to sell ads? To write editorials? To manage reporters or the paper's relationship with the city?
Unfortunately, these newspapers were vague in their accolades for Cornwell's abilities as a newspaper editor. For this reason, I provided quotes of their commentary where possible in order to avoid misconstruing their intent. Please let me know if there is a better way that I can convey this in the text. It is factually accurate and verifiable:
Source spot check Ref #3 and Ref #16 line up with what's indicated in the article, though a few of the other refs are accessible only through subscription.
ISBN and OCLC numbers present in all references.

Ed!, once again I cannot thank you enough for engaging in this very thorough and comprehensive GAR. I apologize for my delayed response, but I hope that I have addressed all your concerns above adequately. Please review my responses and take another look at the article and let me know if there are any outstanding issues that need to be addressed. I performed an exhaustive research of all available online and in-person references, so this article utilizes all available information known to exist about Cornwell. In some cases, sources were vague like the accolades regarding his abilities as an editor in other West Virginia newspapers. Please let me know how best to proceed in these cases. I am willing to make any necessary changes in order for this article to meet GA status!
