Talk:Medieval Witchcraft

The only information available on Wikipedia regarding Medieval Witchcraft can be found on the page titled European Witchcraft, which has been criticized multiple times for "not meeting wikipedia standards" as the neutrality of the article is questionable, and many sources are missing. The article on European Witchcraft covers multiple time periods, and our plan for this page is to take all of the information that pertains to medieval witchcraft and edit it. Because there was such few information on the topic in the already questionable article, we will also be adding material from outside sources to ensure this new page exceeds wikipedia's quality standards. The material regarding medieval witchcraft is both limited and poorly cited, leaving whatever information available questionable in terms of validity. We are going to use several of the assigned readings for this course, including Laura Stokes's article "Toward the Witch Craze" and the primary source of "Inquisition records of Jacques Fournier: Life of a Cathar Woman." We will also be using Richard Kieckhefer's text "Magic in the Middle Ages." We are going to include primary source trials of witches to see how a witch trial was documented and executed. The key point here is set out on the policy WP:POVFORK. If we have an article (even a bad article) on a subject we don't want a new article on the same subject which better accords with certain viewpoints. We want the original article improved so that a reasonable person of any viewpoint is satisfied with it. POVFORKs are bad. They distract from fixing the real problems.
