apologism a grammatical extension for apologist, not the opposite of meliorism I am of the opinion that this word is not yet colonised by an special interest group and is commonly used as a grammatical extension to apologist. Apologist can be used to refer to anyone who give an account in support of a particualr thing. Dawkins might be considered an apologist for evolution or atheism. In this sens he is practicing apologism for atheism. I suggest that you remove this entry and its reference as in contrdistinction to "meliorism". —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chazwin (talkcontribs) 19:14, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Optimism and pessimism

[edit]

I think that it would be a good idea if this article mentioned that meliorism is at odds with both pessimism and optimism. The box in the top right-hand corner states that James was a proponent of meliorism as a halfway point between optimism and pessimism, but I think that it would be better if this point about meliorism appeared in the main text.
