Oligocene Genera
[edit]Do we have any sources that say which genus or genera survived into the Oligocene?--Mr Fink 23:25, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
- McKenna and Bell record Harpagolestes from the early Oligocene, with a "?". That could mean a) the genus may be wrong, b) it may not be a mesonychid, or c) the age of the fossil may be questionable. --Helioseus 16:02, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- We should mention this, then.--Mr Fink 18:00, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- Added. Found a recent paper that discusses the species in question and reassigns it to Mongolestes, so Mongolestes it is. --Helioseus 19:17, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
