[edit]

This page is hopelessly un-wiki. It mixes general ideas about microprocessors and specific concepts used by the 8086 with information about the 8086 itself. A peek at the original revision reveals that it started as a standalone essay on the 8086. As a result, there are several sections and many paragraphs but only one link.

Since all the ideas here could be more easily found by starting at Intel 8086 and browsing to eg segmented memory, would anyone object to declaring this page merged and redirecting it to Intel 8086? Potatoswatter 06:31, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm in full favor of it. While some of the info presented here is good, the Intel 8086 entry is better written, more concise, and more "wiki". I would like to see all of the useful information in this entry merged with the Intel 8086 entry. --Trixter 16:42, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. Merge, go for it. I agree as well. The sooner the better! Radagast83 03:39, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, well... my question was "would anyone object to declaring it (already) merged and (deleting its contents in order to) redirect it...?" I don't feel totally comfortable essentially deleting an article I haven't read, and I won't have time to really slog through this for over a month.
Bah. Well might as well be "productive"... it'll be in the history log in the future. Right now the value of this page definitely doesn't warrant the ugly merge proposal "headline" in the otherwise-nice Intel 8086. Potatoswatter 10:52, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
