Hi! I believe we need to mention its integration with other Windows search facilities such as Desktop search. I believe they all use the same search engine.

But what exactly is it ? This article needs a high-level overview of what it is in terms that non-geeks can understand, instead of jumping straight into jargon and architecture. Have to agree with Rcbutcher here. Article currently reads like an MS add, not an encyclopedia entry. For example, the introduction should say what the user can do with the product. Basically, it is a server- or cloud-hosted Microsoft application that facilitates collaboration. In many cases it's used as a fileshare replacement or treated as a website, but ties in to the entire Microsoft Office suite. SharePoint "Server" is the "non-free" version that has significantly more functionality than the free "Services", now known as "Foundations". Elorgwhee (talk) 15:31, 15 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

From what i see it basically behaves like a web-interface (HTTP) for a file server or data base server. I have seen Sharepoint in action in three companies so far, and none of them was really able to use it in a way that would fit the term "collaboration" - or what comes to mind first when one hears this.
