Not that there is any discussion over this, but it seems that this genocide portal has been added in an effort to show that Israel is guilty of some sort of genocide themselves. In essence saying that the genocide committed by the nazis was somehow justified, even if it is placed in a way which suggests that the individual is trying to present a 'balanced' view. Keep in mind that the genocide portal does not include any other historic genocide (pre-20th century). Bohunk

I agree. It is also heavily weasle worded. Statements like "eerie similarity" and "that person wasn't satisfied yet" belong in gossip columns, not in an encyclopedia. So I guess you guys will have to dig up all the other "genocidal" wars in history from 1700 B.C. onward now. --IronMaidenRocks 05:34, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

---Maybe the translation I read was bad (KJ) but I'm pretty sure they came back with people, and he was angry that they'd let him live. Totally different connotations.207.159.180.63 (talk) 04:13, 30 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If I understand correctly; To compare two barbaric societies trying to protect there own longevity by eradicating there enemies in completeness can not be assimilated to any degree with the holocaust of this last era. No one was at war with Hitler, and the age of the nazis was targeting something far more sinister than barbaric societal preservation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jameswales2 (talkcontribs) 23:40, 26 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Moses second wife was a Midieanit, believe. This war was only one of many slaughters in Canaan. 2601:181:8301:4510:B96F:8EF1:C059:487A (talk) 21:24, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Still a genocide... --Againme (talk) 06:24, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merge

[edit]

This is a short article which I suggest should be merged with the main Midian article, itself fairly short. PatGallacher (talk) 00:26, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's not all that short - certainly not by Wikipedia standards. I think the incident is notable in itself, and deserves its own article. StAnselm (talk) 22:12, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
