  • Expanding on the definition of the mitochondrial matrix, along with setting up information for the new sections to be added. I also intend to develop this into several sections in order to answer the fundal questions. What is the mitochondrial matrix? Where is the mitochondrial matrix? How does the structure and location facilitate reactions? Why do specified reactions occur in the mitochondrial matrix?


  • Including the various structures present in the matrix (what makes up the matrix) and functions pertaining to the matrix along with links to their respective pages.
  • Also include information on the composition importance in facilitating reactions.

Facilitated reactions[edit]

  • Further specify why the matrix is ideal for these reaction to occur and how the matrix is able to facilitate this reactions based on its composition, structures, and mechanisms.
  • TCA/Urea cycle/oxidation of fatty acids/oxidation of pyruvate


  • Add Specific mechanisms involving the mitochondrial matrix in facilitating reactions
  • Electron transport chain
