Thanks LD2023!
For course purposes, my evaluation of the article's current state is that:
- the lead statement is helpful, but the lead section as a whole does not provide a brief summary of the article content.
- the Origin and Function section is the only one following the lead section, and while this provides a good overview it could be expanded and separated into two sections (Origin and Evolution and Function) as the current section treats these topics simultaneously. The lack of background on the topic of mitosome structure and physiology provides a gap in the content as well. Recent perspectives (since 2008) are not discussed.
- there are no visual aids in the article.
- the article is written in a neutral and reasonably balanced style, but is not up-to-date on recent research perspectives.
- the references are from reliable publishers, but are not recent (the most recent reference is from 2008), and a great deal has changed in the study of mitosomes since then. The addition of recent literature and perspectives would provide a major improvement to the article.
