Piracy incident
[edit]There are major discrepancies between accounts of the incident. If anyone has access to the books and other accounts it would be a great help if they could straighten out the story.Acad Ronin (talk) 01:33, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
I was in the process of doing this when this section appeared and will edit accordingly. CrushLily (talk) 01:44, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- Super. I carried over material from the article on de Soto, and the Amazon write upon the Craze book, but there seem to be major discrepancies in the stories. As much as I appreciate your efforts, I don't envy you the job. Cheers, Acad Ronin (talk) 01:49, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
I think the key is to keep Benito de Soto to his own page and just talk about what happened to the ship. Although Benito de Soto's page has many inconsistencies, there is a general consensus on dates, locations etc on what happened to Morning Star between these sources. I have changed the wording to reflect that Benito de Soto himself never boarded Morning Star. This is agreed between the sources too. I have included the source by A.B. A narrative of atrocities etc because both books draw on this as a witness account. CrushLily (talk) 02:30, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
- All good. I haven't gone back to check, but there seems to be some disagreement between sources on how de Soto came to be captured. That's the trouble with history; it is so untidy. Cheers, Acad Ronin (talk) 02:48, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
