Bridges

[edit]

"Most" simply means "bridge" in practically every Slavic language. If we are going to include at the top of this page a list of all bridges in Slavic-speaking countries then that is a bit ridiculous. I have never heard, nor can I find evidence of, for example, Nový Most in Bratislava ever being referred to simply as "Most". We don't list every bridge in the UK and the US in bridge (disambiguation) and we shouldn't do this here.

IMO, the first section should give the most common uses of "most" without any accompanying terms which are probably: the English superlative, the Czech city, maybe Most na Soči as well, the unix pager, the grape and its wine. – filelakeshoe (t / c) 13:46, 9 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Filelakeshoe: As regards this your revert with the summary "don't think this is relevant enough to be in the lede sentence": I think, the meaning of the word is very much relevant, as ca 14 of 21 items are derrived from that meaning. A similar explanation would be also appropriate for pages like Furth, similarly as at Ústí (disambiguation) or Dorf, Germany. --ŠJů (talk) 12:16, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Most is also an English word which we are content with mentioning in a section lower down. If we must mention that most means "bridge" in Slavic languages we can mention it in that section or in the places section. Ústí and Dorf only have one meaning in one language. And does anyone really refer to černý most and that Russian street as just "Most"? – filelakeshoe (t / c) 14:16, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
