Does anyone have the source of attribution to Petronius? I am adding the only sources I know, all dating from the modern period. Larvatus 06:38, 21 February 2006 (UTC)larvatus[reply]

"_Mundus decipit_, Count," they told him, "is the old pious motto of Poictesme: it signifies that the affairs of this world are a vain fleeting show, and that terrestrial appearances are nowhere of any particular importance."
[later:]
So the writing had been changed in accordance with his instructions, and it now read _Mundus vult decipi_.
-- James Branch Cabell, Figures of Earth (1923)

Is this modern use important enough to cite in the article, do you reckon? I think Cabell used the same Latin motto in later volumes of the Biography of Manuel but I can't recall for sure. --Jim Henry 13:00, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

it is also on the door in brigettes closet in the Hit Online Drama : Sorority Fever

I reverted this because it's a bit unclear in its attribution. If someone wants to clarify it, it might make sense to add it back. --Jim Henry (talk) 21:10, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reference List

[edit]

This was included (in incorrect format) among the references for the article, but there was nothing in the main text to which it referred:

Theodor W. Adorno - Astechtische Theorie - Teoría Estética - 1970, Suhrkamp Verlag, Frankfurt am Main

Perhaps someone could add the relevant text from this work and then reinsert the reference. Mc2000 (talk) 14:14, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
