The Hindu Goddess Naina Shares a lot of things with the Nana or Inana of ancient civilizations.

The Kushan rulers who worshipped Nana ruled the region of Kangra (earlier known as Nagarkot) where we have the famous Nanina Devi temple. The Kushan ruler Kanishk who was also known as Kanak-Sena was called the ruler of Nagarkot. The word Kangra was also derived from Kanak-gadh (Fort of Kanishka).

The Goddess Nana is shown riding a Lion which is similar to the Indian Goddess Durga whose incarnation was Naina Devi who killed Maheshasur. In the Ancient Arabia Al-lat Goddess was also worshipped as a Goddess riding a lion and was supporting Arabic Tribes against the Assyrians who depicted themselves as Bull which is considered a form of Mahishasur. The Famius Assur king BaniPal was depicted in one of Assyrian tablets killing lions as a symbol of his slaying the Arabian rivals.

Ultimately the whole world worshipped this Goddess in one form or the other and known her by various names such as Naina, Nana, Inana, Anahita and nidah etc. The Real Rana (talk) 16:40, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
