Talk:National committee for protection of Ukraine

Page contents not supported in other languages.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I am surprised that somebody decided to delete this page :( This is an information about new organization in Ukraine that tries to protect the main freedoms and rights of local population and it needs support from the democratic countries. With time some more structured information will be added to this page as well. Shutting down the information about democracy and political blocks should not be the main priority of Wikipedia.

Deletion under CSD A7

[edit]

I've applied for deletion of this page because quite simply, it doesn't say anything at all useful about a group which is just one week old, and the only sources on the page are in Ukrainian, and we need sources in English or we can't verify anything. At the moment, technically, it contains no useful encyclopedic information other than a declaration of some description, and sources 99% of the editors here wouldn't know from a hole in the floor. My arguments

[edit]

I may partially agree with you. Nevertheless, even "a group which is just one week old" is a history that contains a useful information about the world development in general and about the situation of political confrontation in Ukraine in particular. If this is not important to know for people from democratic countries, what is then? The present reference is really a weak spot here and I can delete them. Instead there are links to the parties that formed that movement and any editor by this way can easy found where is "a hole in the floor". Later, I believe, there will be some news in English and I can put them as sources for this article. TenaliBorogovy (talk) 02:15, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My Response

[edit]

We don't need sources about the parties which formed the organisation, they don't tell us about *this* organisation. We need reliable, understandable, English sources to be added, or we have no reference at all for the group itself. My decision to leave this open for deletion stands, unless you can produce sources which meet our reliable source criteria and which are in English. Additional arguments

[edit]

Actually I can not estimates your actions as fair enough, because there are a lot of articles with much less information and no use at all (for example Oleksandr Omelchenko Bloc) and they are allowed to stay. Why are you so critical to this one? It is hard to expect a lot of references in an article that was just recently created. So I just follow the policy of Wikipedia and give the available references in exactly the same way as it is done in the other articles in English section of Wikipedia. Therefore, I would like to ask you to proceed with fair judgment. TenaliBorogovy (talk) 02:53, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Right - firstly, please review this page before you use the "other stuff is here and it's allowed to stay" comment. I have not seen other articles, including the one you mentioned. I came across this one while I was patrolling the section on New Pages (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:NewPages).
I am proceeding in accordance with Wikipedia's policy, and I am so critical of this one because it is the only one I've seen, and it didn't meet our guidelines for inclusion in my opinion. However, since you seem so sure my judgement is clouded, I have turned this over to our Content noticeboard, since I am no longer willing to discuss this with you. Thanks for your time, sorry we can't reach agreement on this. BarkingFish Talk to me | My contributions 10:27, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Final argument

[edit]

And here you have reference to an English source as well. Respectively, would you, please remove your application for deletion for this article.TenaliBorogovy (talk) 03:23, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Result of all that

[edit]

Now you can delete this article, because it is duplicating information from the other page that was created by other users few days before I started this one. I am sorry too that we couldn't reach some agreement concerning the present article.TenaliBorogovy (talk) 13:34, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

[edit]

I made the redirect to People's Committee to Protect Ukraine (article I created); this article was a WP:CFORK all the time. I removed the delete tag; I suppose redirects don't have to be deleted! — Mariah-Yulia • Talk to me! 14:05, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
