Potential new article on needle and syringe exchange programs in the U.S.

[edit]

Hello all! I am considering creating a new child article that would elaborate on syringe exchange as a movement and programming within the U.S. I think this would be an efficient way to make sure state- and city-level data stays up to date since the U.S. is such a large and politically diverse place. If anyone has thoughts or suggestions please leave a comment on my talk page. Skyef25 (talk) 00:46, 26 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nomenclature

[edit]

Just putting it out there, “Needle and syringe program” isn’t a term I’ve personally seen outside Wikipedia. CDC calls them “syringe service programs”, which I think is what doctors and social workers in the US most commonly call them as of 2024. Prezbo (talk) 04:11, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Prezbo:,
Wikipedia articles are not based on what Prezbo considers what they're personally familiar with.
Here are some counter-examples to your claim:
You pointed out your own problem. "in the US". The English language Wikipedia is not intended to be US centered.
I'm going to courtesy ping @Doc James: who participated in the decision on the titling of this page.

Guess you scored a point on this one, congrats Prezbo (talk) 04:28, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Prezbo:, it comes up readily in Google result, on the first page. Did you even do one bit of searching or do you base your Wikipedia input on your personal values and knowledge? I don't expect people to be locate every possible source, but I don't know something that's on the first page of Google is ignored. Were you also of impression that Wikipedia articles should spin around the United States? Graywalls (talk) 16:53, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What do you want from me here exactly? Prezbo (talk) 18:39, 11 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am trying to understand the reasoning behind your comment. Graywalls (talk) 00:07, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You are ridiculous. If I have the self-discipline to stay off Wikipedia, we won’t interact again. Prezbo (talk) 10:27, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
