Unencyclopedic tag

I've removed the {{unencyclopedic}} tag from this article because it claims that "An editor has expressed a concern that the topic of this article may be unencyclopedic", but no specific concern was raised on the talk page. I may have addressed such issues by adding a reference, removing unsourced and irrelevant fan speculation, and adding a stub tag to signal the need for a more robust article. I've also done some format tweaking and link fixing and added a category. If editors are still concerned about whether this article is truly encyclopedic, they should raise specific objections here. No longer a stub

I added details to the article to un-stub it. With the amount of information added at once, it's probably going to need cleanup and defiantly needs a review by someone else so I put a cleanup tag on it. I've done the basic cleanup and removed the tag. Thanks a bunch to Vectorferret for the work! Now what we could really use are cited references to episodes for specific information. Given that the vast majority of TV-show articles completely lack such references, we're probably doing well even to have a References section citing the show's DVDs. I may do some myself eventually, but I'm horribly backlogged. Interested editors are invited to examine Tom Servo (from Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Inara Serra (from Firefly (TV series)) for ideas on how to do this, although a better way (not yet implemented by most TV articles) is to use Wikipedia:Footnotes. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 11:17, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

Orange County??

"Balboa County" is more like North County San Diego than Orange County. Neptune contains parts that look mysteriously identical to locations in downtown San Diego. It also contains an area with a road network that looks *exactly* like the area around Oceanside High (as seen when Veronica is tracking a car on a computer map). San Deigo and Encinitas have been mentioned on the show as nearby locations. Veronica described Los Angeles as being ninety miles away. I've never seen the show, but I've also heard arguments that Balboa County is a stand-in for San Diego County (cf. Balboa Park). -Branddobbe 00:25, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Exactly. In any case, I've expanded the geographical information to include more detail about San Diego vs Orange County in terms of geography. I've left it as neutral as possible, but if someone could confirm that Los Angeles is described as being 90 miles away (providing at least an episode reference would be good), we could confirm it to be based on North County and not Orange County.

They have said on a few occasions that the city of San Diego is less than an hour away, putting Neptune in North County San Diego. (Episode 1X03 - Meet John Smith - The father who lives in San Diego drives 90 miles rt just to see his son in Neptune for a few seconds at the video store) Also, Keith Mars always flys out of Lindberg/San Diego not John Wayne/OC or LAX/LA. - Ltruett

Merge

As a result of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Neptune (Veronica Mars) the majority has suggested to either delete or merge this article. Please merge any necessary content to the Veronica Mars and then remove any OR content and probably just simply redirect it. --JForget 23:02, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
