"sum of inputs"

In the second paragraph of the intro, there's a phrase, "...and the output of each neuron is computed by some non-linear function of the sum of its inputs." There's two possible interpretations of the word sum:

  • Take all of the inputs, numerically add them together, and feed them as an argument into some non-linear function
  • Take all of the inputs, as a set, and feed them as arguments into some non-linear function

I suspect the second one is the intended phrase, but I can't be sure; I'm not an AI person. Could somebody clarify or rewrite this? tx. OsamaBinLogin (talk) 03:01, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

It is the first one. I believe the text is unambiguous as written, but feel free to improve it. Constant314 (talk) 14:11, 18 October 2023 (UTC)
