Relief presenters[edit]

It makes no sense to list a group of freelance presenters who, unlike on other programmes, turn up sporadically and randomly, with the main presenters. The list could become long, tedious and confuse people. In theory any number of presenters could turn up on this shift - Raechel Hodges, Gavin Grey and Rebecca Pike have all appeared on other overnight bulletins - so at the very least break it up. The way wiki articles are done for the US broadcasts - such as CBS Evening News or NBC Today Show makes far more sense; list the main presenters, mention who provides cover.

And why leave Adam Parsons - who I believe has only done it once or twice - on but remove Adnan Nawaz, who has done a few shifts now. Equally Deborah Mackenzie has appeared on overnights for years - including Newsday a few weeks ago - so there's as much chance she'll return to the shift at some point as Adam Parsons or Chris Rogers.

As a BBC News programme, this artile has been structured in the same way as others. I suggest taking a look at the BBC News at Six or GMT to get an idea of how the table should be. If others have presented add them to the table as well. Possibly the problem here is the larger number of relief presenters who could appear - but I think on the weekday newsday strand, as opposed to weekend overnights, there has been a regular group of stand-ins. Presenters[edit]

I've added some information to the beginning of the 'presenters' section, to explain how the split-presentation works. I feel this is useful and necessary because the format is so different to any other regular BBC News programme. Feel free to change or rewrite it, but I think it makes sense to add this information.

Suspended or ended?[edit]

Newsday appears not to have been broadcast since March 2020, at a time when the news landscape was changing because of the rapid onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, ten months later it still hasn't returned, unlike (what was called) Beyond 100 Days, which came back in August. Has the show been permanently cancelled, and should we be referring to it in the past tense now? Beorhtwulf (talk) 12:55, 28 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Well it appears to be back now, as I saw it last night. If anyone has a source for when it came back please add to the article. Beorhtwulf (talk) 14:17, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
