Meaningless[edit]

Virtually all of the technical information in this article is meaningless to anyone who doesn't know this stuff already.

Speak for yourself[edit]

This page is highly relevant to telecom history. My lone gripe is that the list only accounts for 4ESS switches in the AT&T long distance network, and doesn't list the 4E's installed at tandem offices in the RBOCs (for example, NYCKNYWM12T in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY). I also found this article fascinating, even though it's very specialized. I hope someone can expand on the call accounting and intercept capabilities. It's weird to think that in the midst of our national debates about privacy and surveillance,much of the actual hardware underneath the phone system has barely changed in my lifetime. bendodge (talk) 18:37, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
