Elizabeth Cromwell[edit]

I am currently finishing off a biography piece on John Clayple. He married Oliver Cromwell's favorite daughter, called Elizabeth after her mother. She died before in 1658 and was buried in Westminster Abby. At the restoration of the monarchy like other Protectorate notables buried in the Abby she was disinterred and thrown into a pit (see her entry (Elizabeth Claypole) which I am also in the process of writing). Oliver's wife survived her husband and the restoration and lived with her daughters widow. So it is the wife of Cromwell who is the one who is thought to be buried in Northborough, but she was never buried in Westminster Abby. -- PBS (talk) 20:35, 8 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
